Tristan "Dan"'s Story

To see more of our life, visit: myspace and view profile: alaskadan66 Our Life - What a Trip! I would have never believed I would see thirty-something, but here I am over forty... and still feel like I'm twenty, sometimes even younger! I have four children to keep me busy all day, one in each grade from 1st to 4th, and a wife - the love of my life - barely 9 yrs of age my first year in college, keeping me active all night and much more so than ever before in my life! Where did all the time go? When did I officially become an adult? When was I supposed to become 'responsible'? Why didn't anyone tell me? I suppose the answer is no different then when I was young; If you have to ask, then for the answer you're not ready my son. Thank god I'm no longer too busy - twelve hours plus each day screwing with deadlines, efficiencies, breakdowns, and schedules - all of those things that being 'grown-up' is about... and now spend most of my time as a full time DAD... not giving being grown-up much thought... I no longer feel sad when I see how much they missed their Dad each day while he was with everyone but them... though I can no longer carry them both though the house as I had done before. As I put down my laptop, briefcase, and coat - I don't understand why they're not even mad... that I was gone when they awoke until now, and most Dads were home hours before now. I'm just happy I'm home and giving them both all the hugs and kisses I have been holding in store. And I spend each minute I can through the dinner and bath until one drifts off asleep... then the other. I still can't believe that it is me that has grown-up. Although this life is nothing at all like I thought - there's only one thing I would change if could... It would be for my boys to never grow-up and become a responsible 'adult' - one of us should have been enough! Zachary (9), Lucas (8), Andrea (10), and Marc(8): May you always have what you need, need what you have, and want for nothing! Thanks to my young new bride, my soul-mate, best-friend, lover, and partner in life... I can finally say that I'm happy and loving life... she has been worth all the crap the last 40 years and that lieing actress of an ex-wife made me swollow and ask from more! Not only do my boys have a lovng mother they never had... I also have the daughter I always wanted and son that needed me for a dad... and a reason to look forward to life again!!! School Killed too many brain cells since then... I'm sure it was fine. College I worked my way through College, during the semester from 3:30 am to 9 work...Expand for more
ing Preload at UPS in both Lousiville and Evansville, and delivered furnature during the summer when not in classes. Graduated from University of Southern Indiana just a few years following the break from Indiana State University, while it was still very much 'West Side High' and half the size it is now. Minored in Math and Chemistry, with a Major in Mechanical Engineering Technology... over fifteen years and I still can't get away from being labled an 'engineer'... suppose I'm stuck with it... and to think that those of us in the Eng Tech program were told we would never be 'Engineers'... only technicians... and we would never be a well off as those who paid for and graduated from University of Evansville Engineering. Let me tell all the USI students in the Engineering Technology program a few things I wish I had known: FIRST - I make more money than most UofE Grads with more experience than I have. SECOND - I have only worked for one individual who graduated with a BSME (from UofE to boot)... all the other Engineering Managers were graduates of BSMET programs; myself included. THIRD - I would hire someone who worked their way through and graduated with their BSMET and a 2.2gpa before I would someone with their BSME and a 3.0gpa or better... FOURTH - The degree only matters for the first two years, after that, it's WHAT HAVE YOU DONE SINCE! And FINALLY - we as BSMET graduates were told we would never be rocket or NASA engineers... needed to stick to the simple things. Although I am now a kept man and a full-time dad, I spent years in senior managment, directing Lean Manufacturing from New Jersey to California, the last few directing AEROSPACE ENGINEERING and MANUFACTURING DEPARTMENTS... responsible for implimentations of new products and process to correct fatel flaws in the NASA SPACE SHUTTLE EXTERNAL TANK STRINGER PROGRAM to ensure the tragity of 2003 never happens ever again! Though Aerospace Engineering was never my goal, I worked with Boeing, Gulfstream, Lockheed Martin, etc. every day! Here is a phase I like: What do you call someone with a BSMET degree... you call him BOSS! Workplace Specialize in Facilities Layout and Planning, Project Management, Manufacturing Managment, and Manufacturing Engineering Management. 15 plus years as a proven performer with the reputation of being able to get the job done dispite the schedule, and making the impossible happen. I enjoy manufacturing management & engineering with emphasis on operational excellance and world class manufacturing techniques resulting in a leaner more versatile team and facility.
